The Fibre Company's Bassenfell, designed by Clare Devine, is an asymmetrical garter stitch shawl with three columns of textural cluster stitches. It is worked from tip to tip with a clean i-cord edging to give it a graphic feel. This shawl has beautiful stitch definition and a generous, cosy feel.
YARN:
The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% merino wool, 30% masham wool, 10% mohair, 300m (328yds) per 100 g hank); shown in shade Helvellyn – 2 hanks.
NEEDLES:
3.75mm (US 5) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge).
TENSION/GAUGE:
20 sts and 32 rows to 10 cm (4 in) in Cumbria Fingering, measured over garter stitch after blocking using 3.75mm (US 5) needles.
MEASUREMENTS:
230 cm (90.5 in) wingspan along top edge and 42 cm (16.5 in) width
